Keep the evidence on the table
Boat tokens, score coins and active event markers remain visible. The group should be able to follow the round without relying on a private sheet alone.
Give used cards and unused dock choices separate places so an unresolved instruction is easy to recognise. This is an organisation habit, not a new game mechanic.
Announce the change
Say a move or score update aloud before touching the next piece. Read a catch or Scatter instruction to the end, then carry out the visible result.
A short explanation helps another player catch a misunderstanding while the relevant pieces are still in place. It also makes the next turn easier to begin.
Leave space for a pause
Anyone can ask to reread a card or confirm the route. The reference’s clear-table rule favours a shared reading and a calm replay when something is uncertain.
Keep house-rule experiments separate from this guide. The pages here describe the supplied Chartroom Derby concept and do not introduce a new playable browser game.
